Back pain
Back
pain can be caused by a wide variety of factors. Most lower back pain
is triggered by some combination of overuse, muscle strain, and injury
to the muscles, ligaments, and discs that support the spine.
Acute pain from muscle strains or sprains is often relieved with rest.
If an episode of low back pain lasts for more than two weeks, over time
muscle strain can lead to an overall imbalance in the spinal structure.
After straining muscles, you are likely to walk or move in different
ways to avoid pain or to use muscles that aren't sore. That can cause
you to strain other muscles that don't usually move that way. This
condition make the back more prone to reinjury and have chronic low
back pain.
Acupuncture treatment is every effective for both acute and chronic
lower back pain. Acupuncture can regulating the blood
circulation, relax muscle to promote the repairing of tissue. And at
same time, acupuncture can increase the release of
chemicals--endorphins to stop the pain.
Key points from recent scientific publications:
- All 159 patients with persistent non-specific low back pain
randomised to the offer of acupuncture care chose to receive 8
acupuncture treatment within the trial. Acupuncture care was
significantly more effective in reducing bodily pain than usual care at
24-month follow-up.

- In a randomized, evaluator-blind, placebo-controlled study, it
was found that a single needle induced immediate relief of lower back
pain.

- In a large study consisting of 2564 patients, acupuncture was
found to have significant positive effects on patients suffering from
chronic low back pain of varying degrees of severity.
